What Do I Need To Book An Appointment?

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist, but it is financially beneficial to have one. A referral from a GP entitles you to up to 20 Medicare-subsidised sessions in a calendar year.

After your sixth session you need a review from your GP to give you access to another set of sessions with the Medicare rebate.

How to be sure my child needs a psychologist?

The best way to know if your child needs a psychologist is to talk about your concerns with your local GP or your child’s school counsellor. They should be able to advise you as to whether your child could benefit from seeing a psychologist. If you would like more guidance, please call our friendly team at Little Steps.

How do our psychologists work with parents?

For the success of a child’s therapy, a parent’s involvement is extremely important. We work very closely with parents from the first session. We provide strategies and advice personally created for your child and you to follow at home. We also work closely with the child’s teacher to provide feedback and advice on how to create a safe environment that will support your child.
